I've been trying to write my thesis and, as usual, attempting every productivity hack I can think of, but the very best one so far has been to have another person in the room. The thing that kills my productivity most often is getting stuck (usually on something dumb). When there's another person in the room, I can ask them and resolve it quickly. It's probably important that the other person is working hard on something too.
