My TypeMatrix Keyboard

Since July 23, 2006 (I keep receipts), I've used a TypeMatrix keyboard with the black DVORAK skin. The skin feels funny, but the combined effects of the strange grid layout, extra buttons, and DVORAK key layout is astounding. The only way I could see getting more raised eyebrows is if I owned a Kinesis keyboard, and that would be a pain to lug around.

This keyboard is light, travels well, comes with a PS/2-to-USB adapter, and I'm pretty sure the support number is a guy's cell phone. Whose voice mail he answers. I had a sticking key and he suffered my idiocy as I delicately tried to peel the key off for cleaning (my advice: just pull harder). The keys are great. And this guy likes it.

During my internship at Tarigma Corporation I coded C#, and if you know C#, you know that coding it in anything but Visual Studio is stupid. To make writing C# code in its home environment even better, I modded it with ViEmu, an awesome (non-free) mod for VS that adds vi emulation. Unfortunately, it had no support for remapping keys, so using my fancy schmancy DVORAK skin was out of the question. So why mention it? Remapping support has since been added, so there's no way I wouldn't pay for it now. Heck yes, download it today. (It also supports Word and Outlook.)

In addition to subjecting myself to this strange contraption of a keyboard, I punish/reward myself by using it with VIM. If you want to try the same, maybe my VIM mappings might help.
