The introduction led me to believe that the book would relate macro- and microsounds much more rigorously than it later did. The "design lots of grains then play them at random intervals" model wasn't very satisfying and neither were the results of the reconstruction procedures described later. All in all it was a lot of creative inspiration but not the guidance I was expecting.
Ah, yes, I can see that.
I was missing a bit of exactly what this link between expression and the formulae was supposed to consist of, exactly. I suppose that's up to the individual artist but that aspect still kept me wanting.

That's interesting. I liked it because it inspired me so much and never considered whether I had a opinion on it beyond that. What didn't you like?
