- "What makes a man wanna do what he can? He wants to rule the whole world with his master plan, he wants to walk around like he's the king of the land, *incomprehensible* he is the man!"
- Not much to say, I'm busy.
- Oh yeah! I'm working on a beat detector in ChucK based on the paper "Tempo and beat analysis of acoustic musical signals" by Eric D. Scheirer (I keep being reminded of how much I'd like to work in the MIT Media Lab), but implementing the resonator bank for detecting tempos efficiently enough for real time was stumping me. The input signal for the resonators was sampled at much less than the virtual machine's sample rate (200 Hz, not 44,100 Hz), so I knew there was lots of computational savings to be had there… I asked Prof. Cook about it and now I know: just chuck and unchuck the bank at 200 Hz. So simple.
