Daily Crap 2007-12-02

  1. Quinn has somehow gotten me excited about Tetris again, and I'm back at it full force. When I picked it up I was averaging 15 lines per minute, but now I'm consistently finishing with 17-19 LPM, and I think I can do better. I wish it counted LPM ignoring single-line clears, because those don't matter at all in multiplayer. Trying to clear at least two rows at a time calls for some interesting (and risky) strategy.
  2. I want Rock Band.
  3. I'm nearly done converting AllTom from Ruby on Rails to Merb. I'm seeing roughly a 6x speed improvement, though I won't know about memory footprint until more is in place. Now that I'm running on a VPS with limited resources instead of a dedicated server, this kind of stuff matters. (I'm making the switch from LigHTTPd + FastCGI to Nginx + Mongrel at the same time due to the success I've had with that setup on my super secret closed beta site.)
  4. I'm living the blogging dream. I post regularly, and I love my blogging engine. What more could I want?
