Daily Crap 2007-11-8
- There's been no crap since the weekend, so you've probably been in suspense about this: the yasumi is over. A week of making only moderate progress on the assignments due this week has caught up with me. BUT IT ENDS NOW. NO MORE NICE TOM. THIS IS WAR.
- I just need to finish my "Reasoning About Computation" midterm by 5pm, then make enough progress on my independent study project (which I just realized doesn't have a page yet) to ensure that I'll impress my supervisors tomorrow.
- I don't think randomly enough except when I'm in the shower or walking to class. Those are the times when I give in to the fact that I can't get any "work" done and resign to my mind's will to wander. At those times, I wish for pencil and pen to write down some of the flood of things that pop into my head, but really, if I just let myself think when I'm not on the go, it would probably come at a more reasonable flow rate.
- I've taken to downloading the pre-subbed versions of Bleach whenever I refresh Bleach Portal at the right time. There are tons of words I don't know, and some of the characters, like Nell, talk with strong accents... I can follow many of the slower scenes now, though, mind racing to catch up with the dialog.
- I don't think I'll make real progress in my Japanese without feedback on my mistakes. Positive feedback in the form of things I hear and read only seem to get me so far. I need a language partner.
- Oh, eigenclass. I should be working, but all I want to do is get back to the awesome OCaml tutorial.
- As far as my GTD system, I'm somewhere between having nothing to (todo list on paper) do and having an overwhelming number of things to do (Life Balance), so I'm at the Palm Todo stage. There is only one category, "Today," which I fill with tasks in the morning. I have outline-style text files for projects like AllTom, my independent work, and my super-secret closed beta site.
